The Department of Veterans Affairs’ Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Service have recognized Northrop Grumman Corporation as this year’s VetSuccess Private Employer of the Year for their efforts in hiring veterans with disabilities. Most notably the company’s program Operation IMPACT (Injured Military Pursuing Assisted Career Transition), that facilitates injured military veterans in finding jobs within the company and assists them in developing a career path, contributed to their success.
The initiative began in 2005 as a tool for Northrop Grumman to assist service members who had been injured during service on the Global War on Terror. Operation IMPACT assists job seekers including injured armed forces personnel, spouses of injured service members and military widows in their search, and once they are placed provides them with any on-the-job assistance necessary.
Sandra Evers-Manly, vice president of Corporate Responsibility for Northrop Grumman said, “Northrop Grumman is honored to have received such a prestigious award from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs VR&E Service…Operation IMPACT is a unique program, one we’re very proud of, that’s doing something very real to thank those people who have sacrificed so much for our country. These heroes deserve all we can offer, and this program helps them transition into the workplace while helping our company benefit from their talents and expertise.”
