The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has appointed Todd Park as Chief Technology Officer. Park is currently working as Board Director for athenahealth Inc., a healthcare IT company which he co-founded.
As CTO, Park will work with the HHS and other agencies to create innovative ways to improve health care through technology.
“I am extremely excited about the opportunity to help the Administration explore and catalyze new ways to improve the health status of the United States through the power of data, technology, and innovation,” remarked Park.
“Todd is a lifelong friend and has been instrumental in every facet of athenahealth’s development, most recently as a member of our Board,” commented athenahealth co-founder, Chairman, and CEO, Jonathan Bush. “We are thrilled for him as he takes on this remarkable opportunity to help the country harness the power of disruptive innovation for the good of every American.”
Park will officially resign from athenahealth on August 10 and divest all his stock to meet government eligibility requirements. He will also be required to recuse himself from some matters pertaining to athenahealth and the private-sector.
athenahealth, founded in 1997, supplies online health care solutions and services to physicians.
