Casey Coleman, GSA CIO, Tweets From Plane During Emergency Situation

Casey Coleman’s trip to Microstrategy World 2010 in Las Vegas was interrupted this weekend by an unruly passenger attempting to open the emergency escape hatch mid-flight.  She wrote about the incident real-time on the micro-blogging site Twitter:

“During our flight to Las Vegas, some lunatic tried to open the front exit hatch in midair. About a dozen men rushed him & held him down.”

Casey_ColemanShe said that after he was stopped from opening the hatch, “The flight attendant surrounded this nut with big male passengers while we diverted to Denver to drop him off w/the FBI there.” She followed up tweeting the praises of the fast action that saved the flight “There is clearly a new alert and assertive spirit of self-defense among American air travelers!”

The flight diverted to Denver and the unruly passenger was handed over without incident to waiting agents of the FBI, and passengers boarded a new plane for Vegas.
