Amit Yoran has been serving as CEO of NetWitness since November 2006. Before joining the company, he was appointed as director of the US-CERT and national cybersecurity division of the Department of Homeland Security, and as CEO and adviser to In-Q-Tel.
Previously, Yoran served as vice president of worldwide managed security services at the Symantec Corporation. He was the co-founder of Riptech and served as CEO until the company was acquired by Symantec in 2002. Yoran also was the director of the vulnerability-assessment program within the Computer Emergency Response Team at the Department of Defense and the network security manager, responsible for maintaining operations of the Pentagon’s network.
Yoran served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force in the Department of Defense’s Computer Emergency Response Team. He serves as a commissioner on the CSIS Commission on Cyber Security for the 44th Presidency and numerous other industry advisory bodies.
Yoran has a bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a master’s degree in computer science from The George Washington University.
