Bill Phelps is an executive director in Accenture technology consulting’s security business. He runs Accenture’s North American security group, and has direct responsibility for security consulting in Accenture’s public service and communication and high-tech client groups. Phelps also coordinates sales and marketing activities for Accenture’s global security service line.
Phelps spent most of the last eight years working on projects related to developing and operating global data-center infrastructures. He rejoined Accenture in early 2004 after founding and building a start up, SevenSpace, to provide remote infrastructure and application management. SevenSpace was sold to Sun Microsystems and now forms the core of Sun Management Services.
Before rejoining Accenture, Phelps also was a member of the board of directors for True North Solutions. He began his career with Accenture in 1986, and spent the majority of his career in the communications industry.
Phelps earned his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas, where he won the 1986 Moot Corp Venture Design Competition. He also holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut.
