The Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) was awarded with the 2010 Frances Perkins Vanguard award by the Small Business Administration (SBA).
The award was presented to SAIC Senior Vice President Jim Cuff at a Small Business Week event in Washington, D.C.
“We understand the power of the entrepreneurial spirit that drives women-owned small businesses,” said Cuff. “This award recognizes our commitment to fostering the success of small businesses – we realize that they are vital to our nation’s economic growth and prosperity.”
The award honors companies that exhibit strong leadership, innovation, and implementation. This will mark the third time that SAIC has received this award.
SAIC awarded small, women-owned businesses over $360 million in subcontracts during the fiscal year of 2009. This number represents only a small fraction of the overall $2 billion that SAIC awarded to small businesses in the year.
