Rick Marcotte is president and chief executive officer of DLT Solutions. As leader of the company, he makes sure his employees receive a well-rounded work environment by instituting a culture of employee accountability, collaboration and philanthropy.
To create an infectious spirit of social consciousness at DLT, this “CEO Who Cares” places a large emphasis on community enrichment. Under his leadership, DLT has quickly become an important player in enhancing the quality of life for those who need it most.
“They call me the president and CEO, but in reality I’m the chief cheerleader, chief motivator and chief drill sergeant,” Marcotte told ExecutiveBiz in an interview. In order to motivate his team toward philanthropy, Marcotte launched the DLT Foundation in 2007.
“The DLT Foundation generally provides funds to organizations or individuals that, by their efforts, transform and affect the quality of the way people live,” according to the DLT Foundation’s website. “Some of the efforts that we support would be research in the areas of disease and medical treatments, emergency response efforts, community enrichment programs and individual developmental needs.”
Under his leadership, the foundation has supported charities such as the Parkinson’s Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis and the Haiti earthquake relief effort and even received the Sister Eymard Gallagher Award for Corporate Social Responsibility award by the Human Resources Leadership Awards of the D.C. area in 2009.
The charitable organizations are not limited to those, however. Marcotte is constantly sponsoring new charities as the requests come in from employees.
Marcotte is now spearheading a “green” movement in DLT and has recently established a “Going Green” committee of employees. The committee drives the company toward environmental awareness and conservation.
This “CEO Who Cares” is also moving DLT toward a new philanthropic direction. He recently announced a company-wide commitment to Martha’s Table in Washington, D.C. This organization helps “at-risk children, youth, families and individuals in our community improve their lives by providing educational programs, food, clothing, and enrichment opportunities.”
Being a philanthropic leader at DLT comes natural to Marcotte, as he ensures community outreach is incorporated into all aspects of his life. On a personal level, Marcotte and his family dedicate their time and energy to support the Alliance Medical Ministry. The organization provides medical services to the uninsured working poor of his home state, North Carolina. By working tirelessly to encourage donations and outreach projects, Marcotte and his family are patrons of the AMM’s “Marcotte Family Lab.”
It is through these commitments Marcotte truly demonstrates community outreach in all aspects of his life.
