Pitney Bowes Inc. will use its clout in the tech industry to lend a philanthropic hand. The company is enabling its 8,000 plus Connect+ customers, who mail out an average of 3,500 envelopes a month, to raise awareness for national nonprofit organizations through its Connect for a Cause program. The program will promote each nonprofit for a specified period of time, during which Connect+ mail system customers will have the option to increase awareness and drive funding to the organization.
The customer who delivers the most messages using Connect+ through Dec. 31 of this year will receive $1,000 from Pitney Bowes to donate to the charity of their choice. The first nonprofit to benefit from the campaign is America’s Backyard, the National Recreation and Park Association’s program which works to advance public works, recreational opportunities and environmental conservation efforts.
“Many of our customers are big supporters of giving. However, in this economy, being able to give back is not as easy as it once was,” explained Chris Giles, vice president, solutions and competitive marketing at Pitney Bowes. “Through Connect for a Cause, we are giving small and medium-sized businesses a simple way to help charitable causes and, at the same time, helping to raise awareness to very worthwhile causes that will directly benefit from the additional exposure. The customer who generates the most messages will have the opportunity to donate to a cause that is important to them.”
Connect+ customers will have from now through July 31 to support America’s Backyard by adding the logo and promotional message from America’s Backyard to the outside of their outgoing mail. Additional charities to benefit from the program will be announced next month.
