Process management company Software AG has identified South Africa as a key business target that will act as a stepping stone for business throughout the rest of the continent.
Explaining that South Africa is one of Software AG’s top 10 global units, Software AG CEO and chairman Karl-Heinz Streibich recently visited the local branch for the first time since it earned status as a fully owned and locally run subsidiary in 2005. He said the local unit accounts for between 3 percent and 5 percent of Software AG’s global revenue and views it as a “launch pad” to conduct business in markets throughout Africa.
With between 10 percent and 15 percent of IT spending being out toward cloud technology over the next five years, Streibich believes the South African unit will lead the business process management segment during this same time period. Headquartered in Germany, Software AG has more than 5,600 staff serving 10 000 enterprise and public institution customers in 70 countries.
Streibich was in South Africa to preside as the keynote speaker of the company’s annual user conference, ProcessForum 2011, and to meet with clients throughout the region.
