Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited announced today that it has appointed Stephen Almond as its new chairman of the board. Almond, whose new position is effective immediately, will succeed former Chairman John P. Connelly, whose four-year term ended May 31, 2011.
“I am excited about Steve’s election,” DTTL Global Chief Executive Officer Barry Salzberg said. “His relentless focus on quality and client service and extensive global client experience will be significant assets in helping us advance the Deloitte organization’s leadership in the marketplace.”
Almond brings more than 30 years of experience with the Deloitte network to his new role, having previously served as deputy global chief executive officer of clients, DTTL, and as global managing director of audit, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. Almond says his experience in client services across industry sectors will continue to serve him well.
“During the recent economic downturn, Deloitte member firms brought the full breadth of the global network’s resources to help clients adapt to the new market realities, while maintaining an unyielding focus on quality,” Almond said. “It is a privilege to take on this leadership role at a time of growth and opportunity for the global marketplace, as well as the Deloitte organization worldwide.”
Almond earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of London and will conduct his business from the U.K. capital.
