Lockheed Martin Reaches IT Services Milestone

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) today announced it has successfully achieved ISO 20000 certification for its Information Systems & Global Solutions business area.

With two internationally recognized certifications in IT services and information security standards positions, Lockheed Martin is one of a handful U.S.-based companies and government organizations to accomplish these combined milestones, the firm said in a release.

“These critical IT services and security certifications are key to meeting Lockheed Martin’s goals in the areas of program and performance excellence,” said Rick Johnson, vice president and chief technology officer of Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Solutions. “The achievement is a significant benefit we can now provide on our more than 2,300 customer contracts and 17,000 suppliers that rely on resilient systems and trusted services to meet their core mission goals.”

Developed in 2005, ISO/IEC 20000 is the first international standard for IT service management systems.
