Consulting Firm A.T. Kearney has recently teamed up with Nishigo Village of Fukushima Prefecture and Shimogo Town of Fukushima Prefecture to develop industry clusters and create job opportunities for the post-earthquake/tsumani recovery of Fukushima and Japan’s industrial development.
The goal of the initiative is to attract new business enterprises and create a self-sustaining economy. The initiative also aims to develop a model that addresses challenges facing modern society which include aging and food security.
A.T. Kearney identified the six industry cluster that will support Fukushima’s growth including a vegetable factory, renewable energy, logistics, medical and nursing care, facilities management and tourism.
The project vision the team has discussed consists of the two municipalities applying for special economic zone status. The zone would be developed by the Japan Government to accelerate related investments from all over the world.
