Iron Mountain Among Most Innovative Users of Technology; Tasos Tsolakis Comments

Iron Mountain Incorporated is ranked 47th on the 2011 InformationWeek 500, a list of the top technology innovators in the U.S., as a result of a project to improve the performance of its North American truck fleet.

We’re honored to be ranked in the InformationWeek 500 for the ninth consecutive year and thrilled to be recognized in the top 100,” said Tasos Tsolakis, executive vice president and chief information and global services officer at Iron Mountain. “Our transportation performance optimization project was a major initiative for the entire organization, combining the strengths of our IT and operations teams. This ranking underscores our commitment to using technology to better run our business and improve our customer experience.”

Iron Mountain’s IT transportation and operations teams spent 2010 improving the way the company delivered its infromation management services to North American customers. The team needed to account for more than 2,700 vehicles making deliveries and find a way to integrate six databases used to track service level metrics and courier performance data.

In just two quarters after the project launch, the initiative realized significant cost savings and improved delivery times for customers by eight percent, while allowing transportation supervisors to gain better understanding of where performance improvement and route optimization opportunities could be found.
