The 2011 MarkLogic Government Summit is shaping up to be a formidable event. The Big Data analytics company announced that retired Air Force Gen. Michael Hayden, former CIA director, and Bob Flores, former CIA chief technology officer and current president and CEO of Applicology Inc., will be the keynote speakers addressing the summit.
Hayden was appointed CIA director by former President George W. Bush in May of 2006 and held that post until his retirement in 2009. Hayden was director of the National Security Agency from 1999-2005. Hayden began his Air Force career in 1969.
Flores spent 31 years at the CIA, where he held various positions in the directorate of intelligence, directorate of support, and the National Clandestine Service. He spent his last three years at the CIA as the chief technology officer. He is currently president and chief executive officer of Applicology Inc., an independent consulting firm specializing in information technology and cyber security issues.
“Big Data is having a significant impact on organizations, and the government has a major opportunity to improve efficiencies, save money, and save lives,” said Randall Jackson, vice president of MarkLogic Public Sector. “With decades of leadership experience with Big Data at the CIA and NSA, General Michael Hayden and Bob Flores know firsthand why it is so important to be able to analyze Big Data in real time.”
The Nov. 16 summit held in the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington will also feature presentations on challenges and solutions to the complexity of government-created information, practical examples from MarkLogic customers, partners, and experts that explain how effective management of Big Data can solve critical business problems in government and demonstrations how to manage unstructured data to gain significant advantages to meet organizational goals.
