The 25-year IT veteran joined General Dynamics in 1999 when the company acquired GTE. At GTE, Kirchmaier held a variety of senior management positions, having provided telecommunication and computer network solutions, including software and systems development.
Kirchmaier’s division employs nearly 4,500 engineers that provide IT, system integration and mission support services to the intelligence community, Defense Department command and control and coalition partners worldwide.
The division designs, integrates, manages and sustains net-centric enterprise IT systems and cybersecurity solutions. It also provides information infrastructure solutions including data center, cloud computing and storage virtualization.
Operations and sustainment services the division provides include network and security operation centers, life-cycle support, service desk and performance-based logistics.
Prior to his current role in the intelligence solutions division, Kirchmaier was senior vice president of global information services, which provides network and IT solutions to commercial, public safety and international customers.
This division has designed, developed, deployed and operated large-scale wireless communication solutions for AT&T, Sprint and Verizon, along with the State of New York, Oregon and several international engagements.
Prior to that role, Kirchmaier served as vice president and general manager of General Dynamics’ wireless division, where he oversaw large-scale engineering and the deployment of wireless systems for commercial carrier and government land mobile radio.
Kirchmaier was a systems engineer early in his career, having worked on a variety of computer development and integration projects.
Kirchmaier graduated with a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering from Cornell University and holds a master’s degree in business management from Pepperdine University. He also graduated from the Defense Acquisition University’s Federal Acquisition Management and Program Management School.
