Hughes to Deliver Broadband to 300 Government Sites
Hughes Network Systems, LLC announced today it has been awarded a task order to deliver broadband services to 300 government offices and inspection sites.
The task order was awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s food safety and inspection service under a one-year blanket purchase agreement.
Currently FSIS offices are using multiple technologies such as DSL, cable, cellular, T-1 and satellite to connect to the Internet. Under the order, Hughes is expected to provide multiple-access technologies under one nationally managed broadband network for all 300 locations.
Hughes also believes the transition will save the agency money, as offices will no longer need to purchase “special access lines,” and “MPLS ports,” in remote locations.
