Kratos Subsidary to Produce Microwave Assemblies for Navy Recon Airplane

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions announced today its subsidiary Herley Industries, Inc. has been awarded a subcontract worth approximately $1 million to produce integrated microwave assemblies for the U.S. Navy’s P-8A aircraft.

The P-8A is a modified Boeing 737-800ERX and is the Navy’s newest maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft. It specializes in long-range anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare.

According to Herley’s website, the devices “integrate microwave components such as attenuators, switches, oscillators, amplifiers, filters, couplers and mixers, with the associated electronic circuitry, into one overall assembly.”

To date, Herley has received contracts totaling $1.8 million for low rate initial production for the P-8A program.
