Boeing to Upgrade Navy Torpedo Defense System
Boeing subsidiary Argon ST has won a $14.8 million follow-on award to continue work on the Navy‘s surface ship torpedo defense program, Boeing announced Monday.
The Pentagon said Argon ST will continue producing and delivering new SSTD systems. The contract holds a five-year option for cost-plus-fixed-fee enhancements to existing SSTD systems.
The company said the original contract was awarded in 2006 to design and develop the “passive, electro-acoustic decoy system” used as a countermeasure against acoustic homing torpedoes.
