HP to Support Blue Shield Calif. with Tech Infrastructure, App Support

HP Enterprise Services will assist Blue Shield of California deliver new services and more affordable healthcare under a five-year contract, HP announced Tuesday.

HP indicated it will build on its 43-year relationship with Blue Shield by continuing to provide technology infrastructure and applications support to the health insurance organization.

“Healthcare reform and rising costs are driving transformation across the insurance industry, requiring Blue Shield to focus more on streamlining and standardizing to adapt to market demands,” said Sue Arthur, HP Enterprise Services vice president for healthcare and life sciences.

HP will provide and manage applications development and management services for core administrative data systems and corporate systems. The company will also provide applications services it says will connect centers of excellence with software professionals across Blue Shield projects.
