Intel Corp. and the United Nations Population Fund have unveiled a joint effort to educate 1 million healthcare workers worldwide through technology.

The UN said on Monday the initiative aims to use software and technical assistance to reduce the number of deaths related to childbirth. The UN said Intel will work with governments to increase the affordability and availability of technology.

Intel said it will make available its Skoool healthcare education platform in order to provide workers with access to healthcare information and training materials.

Intel said UNFPA will develop the training and material for educating health workers.

The initiative will undergo a pilot test period in countries with high rates of maternal and newborn death.

What a wonderful idea. I hope its implementation will start soon and countries will not only take the courses but make such courses relevant to their circumstances.

  2. Thanks for the info, I’ve been interested in this for quite some time, and it’s great I found your blog
