BAE Completes Texas Defense Electronics Plant, Targeting Region Tech Job Growth

BAE Systems Inc., the British defense contractor’s U.S. subsidiary, has finished constructing a technology manufacturing center in Austin, Texas for the electronic systems sector.

The company said nearly 525 employees work in the Austin region and that this region has potential for an increasing number of jobs in the high-tech sector.

The center will produce credit card assemblies for its laser target locator module and precision kill weapon system, two of the company’s innovative products.

In Austin, the company will also produce landing systems, network communication systems and thermal imaging systems including weapon sights for use in day or night conditions.

In late March, the company opened a new facility in the U.K. to make the rear fuselage and tail for Lockheed Martin’s F-35.
