Oregon Launches Harris Healthcare Communications System; Jim Traficant Comments

Harris Corp. has launched a health information exchange for the state of Oregon, the company announced Monday.

The international communications and information technology provider said the Oregon Health Authority will administer the CareAccord system.

OHA selected Harris to provide the system after receiving federal funding to implement a statewide health information sharing solution in conjunction with the state health information exchange cooperative agreement program.

Jim Traficant, president, Harris Healthcare Solutions said CareAccord will aim to allow state healthcare providers to securely communicate and share patient information and attachments.

The system is also accessible by any device with internet capabilities.

Late last month Harris also secured a $80.3 million contract with the departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs to integrate electronic healthcare systems.
