Verizon has received recognition for its efforts in recruiting and employing military veterans.
The company said it was included in the Military Times EDGE Best for Vets 2012: Employers list.
Companies on the list receive the distinction for social recognition, pay and benefits and general support of service members.
Veterans’ previous training and skill sets apply to a wide variety of jobs within the company, said Magda Yrizarry, chief talent and diversity officer.
Currently, the company employs nearly 12,000 veterans and hired around 550 last year.
The company also deploys a number of programs and services in support of veterans and their families.
