Accenture Wins $359M For California Health Exchange; CGI, Oracle to Subcontract

Accenture has won a $359 million contract to implement a health insurance exchange in California, the company announced Wednesday.

CGI and Oracle will serve as subcontractors in building the California Healthcare Enrollment, Eligibility and Retention System.

The company will receive $183 million for initial system development and implementation, scheduled for completion by October 2013, and $176 million for continued development and operating costs.

State residents will use CalHEERS to determine eligibility, compare options and pre-enroll in health insurance plans before the January 2014 deadline for health insurance exchange implementation.

Accenture will also provide the state its public service platform and health benefits exchange software programs.

Individuals and small businesses use the software to determine eligibility, shop, compare and enroll in health plans.
