Cisco Systems and Thales have formed a new partnership to develop new technologies and perform joint marketing activities within the global aerospace, defense and security market.

Cisco said this partnership builds on a long-standing relationship between the two companies in Europe.

Both companies intend to address existing opportunities within the sector and create new ones to drive sector growth, said Chris Dedicoat, president of Cisco’s business in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Russia.

Thales will use Cisco technologies, including Cisco’s networking equipment and infrastructure line, to develop solutions and systems and resell select Cisco networking technology.

Thales is also a designated Cisco Global Specialty Integrator, where Thales will embed Cisco networking service technologies.

The French aerospace and defense conglomerate also is part of a contracting team with Raytheon, where the companies are developing a new desktop for the Australian military.

Australian warfighters will access both restricted and secret networks at the same time with the desktop, the companies said.
