Lockheed To Update AF Workstation Windows Software

Lockheed Martin will upgrade several U.S. Air Force workstations to the current version of Microsoft Windows.

According to the Defense Department, workstations for the branch’s combatant commanders integrated command and control system and enterprise and product data systems modernization program office will receive Windows 7 and Server 2008.

The company’s information systems and global services unit will perform work in Colorado Springs, Colo. through Sept. 30 2014 and Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. is the contracting activity.

Raytheon is contracted to help the Navy transition to Linux software for the branch’s ground control stations for unmanned aerial vehicles.

According to the Pentagon, the branch will use the tactical control system software for directing vertical take-off UAVs.
