Accenture to Acquire Health Software Provider; David Boath Comments

Accenture has agreed to acquire Octagon Research Solutions Inc., a provider of clinical and regulatory information management solutions and software to the pharmaceutical industry for an undisclosed amount.

Accenture will use the acquisition to help clients market medicines, creating new clinical and regulatory services and extend business process outsourcing.

David Boath, North American managing director for Accenture’s life sciences industry group, said clients are under pressure to get medicines to the market quicker than ever before.

He added that Octagon will help Accenture provide services spanning regulatory operations, submissions management, clinical data conversion and clinical data management on a global scale.

Octagon, a Wayne, Pa. based company, has 380 employees, 400 original applications, and is the fifth-largest user of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s electronic submission gateway.

Octagon will now be a part Accenture’s life sciences industry group.
