HP Adds ‘Single Sign-On’ For Health Software

Hewlett-Packard has added a “single sign-on” capability to HP Thin Clients with HealthCast identity-management software, the company announced today.

The added capability allows health care professionals to quickly and securely sign-on to HealthCast to access patient files.

The development is in response to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act requirements that call for medical professionals to sign on each time they access a patient’s medical records.

With health care professionals tallying 30-100 unique logins per-day, the new feature is supposed to save time while keeping patient information secure and private.

The HP-HealthCast solution is currently used at the St. Luke’s Health System in Kansas City.

The update supports the recently announced updates on the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act which focuses on expediting electronic health information exchange.
