HP, AF Sign Enterprise Computer Purchase Deal; John Solomon Comments

Hewlett-Packard will supply the U.S. Air Force with business computers and workstations under the branch’s enterprise information technology acquisition program, the company announced Thursday.

The Air Force signed an agreement with the company to acquire additional units for its 1 million deployed HP products across the U.S., Europe and Asia Pacific for seven years.

HP will bring customized agency configurations to the products in line with memory, audio, video and other standards and tests.

The company has provided technology and IT services to the military and civilian agencies for nearly seven decades, said John Solomon, senior vice president for printing and personal systems and managing director of the Americas.

Through the Quantum Enterprise Buy award, the Air Force will receive the HPZ820 Workstation; HP Z420 Workstation; HP EliteBook 8560w Mobile Workstation; HP Compaq 6005 Pro Business PC; HP ProBook 6460b Notebook PC; HP EliteBook 2650p Notebook PC; and the HP Elitebook 2760p Tablet PC.

Z820 Workstations have new dual processors and support up to 16 processing cores while the Z420 Workstation supports up to eight cores.

Z Workstations are ENERGY STAR-qualified and the HP EliteBook 8560w Mobile Workstation is designed and tested for resistance to drop, vibration, dust, altitude and high temperature.

The company said its Compaq 6005 Pro Business PC will be available in small form factor and microtower configurations for secure hardware, software and firmware.

ProBook 6460 Notebook PCs have lightweight 12.5-inch diagonal display, standard-voltage processor, a full-size hard drive and an optical drive.
