Northrop Grumman has joined the Hosted Payloads Alliance, a group of satellite manufacturers, spacecraft operators, system integrators and launch vehicle providers that support government agencies in acquiring space assets and services.
Formed in 2011, HPA promotes the benefits of hosted payloads on commercial satellites and assists government agencies in finding timely and cost-effective ways to send equipment into space.
Robert V. Burke, Space Systems vice president and deputy general manager for Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, said the HPA can help Northrop “leverage its experience in hosted payloads and disaggregated space to meet global security needs on cost and on schedule.”
Burke added that the company’s “extensive experience in providing protected communications payloads to the military” offers an affordable and flexible solution to help alleviate the growing demand for network and the increasing threat to military satellite communication services.
