DRS Technologies Wins Navy Contract for Common Display Systems; Patrick Marion Comments

A DRS Technologies Inc. business unit recently won a potential $23.4 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to supply the U.S. Navy with common display systems, the company announced today.

Johnstown, Pa.-based DRS Laurel Technologies together with partner Lockheed Martin will produce variant ‘A’ common display systems intended for use on surface ships, submarines and aircraft carriers.

Patrick Marion, DRS Laurel Technologies VP and general manager, said DRS will continue its 17-year support of the Navy as it enhances situational awareness for sailors through the CDS program.

As part of the contract, the Navy issued an initial delivery order to DRS for the production and qualification of three CDS consoles, configuration options and spare parts.

Work will occur in Johnstown, Pa., and is estimated to complete in May 2013.
