Science Applications International Corp.’s plans to split the company into two independent firms may include selling its McLean, Va. headquarters located on SAIC Drive, Chief Operating Officer Stu Shea told the Washington Post.

SAIC plans to divide into two by the second half of fiscal year 2014, with one firm focused on developing science and technology solutions and the other providing technical and enterprise information technology services.

The company recently sold its testing and evaluation business unit to American Systems.

Shea told Post reporter Jonathan O’Connell the company has discussed monetizing its McLean campus for years, adding he could see one of the two companies remaining at the SAIC Drive-based campus.

Shea also told O’Connell does not envision either of the two firms relocating far from each other, adding SAIC has a strong relationship with Virginia.
