The General Services Administration intends to issue a request for information soliciting ideas from private industry to redevelop the L’Enfant Plaza area in Southwest Washington, according to a Sept. 28 FedBizOpps notice of intent.
Several government agencies maintain office space in that area, referred to by GSA as Federal Triangle South, including the departments of Energy and Homeland Security as well as the Federal Aviation Administration.
GSA wants to gather market input on meeting federal facility space needs and identifying potential redevelopment and transaction structures that achieve the best value to the government.
Some challenges GSA identified include older buildings that are driving high operating costs, a backlog of required capital improvements, land use inefficiencies, space inefficiencies and lack of area amenities.
GSA said it will distribute an RFI, which will provide instructions on submitting responses, within 90 days of publication of this notice.
