Verizon Enterprise Solutions has announced a comprehensive cloud and data center infrastructure portfolio for the health care industry, a company press release detailed Monday.

The new portfolio is designed to help health care professionals meet federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act requirements in safeguarding electronic protected health information.

“Today’s health care provider is faced with the enormous and costly burden of protecting personal health information for patients,” said Dr. Peter Tippett, chief medical officer and vice president of Verizon’s health IT practice.

Verizon said its solution will enable the healthcare industry to centralize large volumes of data for more efficient management and collaboration in near-real time.

The new health-care-enabled services under Verizon’s portfolio will include colocation, managed hosting and enterprise cloud.

Verizon said it works to safeguard their patients’ ePHI by providing a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement with each service.
