Grant Thornton LLP has appointed Michael Patanella leader of the firm’s national asset management sector within the financial services practice.
The firm said in a release he leads training on hedge funds and related accounting, reporting and regulatory updates.
Patanella, a 15-year public accounting veteran, joins the sector as the firm aims to grow in the financial services sector, said Jack Katz, Northeast region managing partner, New York cluster managing partner and national financial services managing partner.
Some of Patanella’s current and former clients include hedge funds, private equity firms, clearing and introducing brokers, mutual funds and exchange-traded funds.
He writes thought leadership articles for the firm’s Asset ManagementAdviser publication and has written papers for hedge fund journals.
Patanella currently serves as a board member of the New York State Society of CPAs Investment Management Committee and is the founding chair of the society’s private equity and venture capital fund committee.’
He is also a member of the Financial Management Division of Securities Industry and the Financial Markets Association.
