ARINC will join an industry forum that promotes digital air protocol technology for use with narrowband technologies, the company announced Wednesday.
The NXDN Forum was established in 2008 to advocate for the technology.
“We are pleased to announce our membership to the NXDN Forum,” said Dennis Lengyel, staff vice president of ARINC’s surface transportation and security systems division.
Lengyel also said customers in the freight railroad, transit, utility, air transportation and public safety sectors can use the NXDN technology and fulfill a Federal Communications Commission mandate.
The FCC has mandated that all radio users operating below 512 megahertz must migrate from the 25 kilohertz band to the 12.5 kHZ band for land mobile operations.
