Northrop Facility Certified to Repair European Aircraft; Carl Smith Comments

Carl Smith

Northrop Grumman Corp. has been certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency to work on European-registered aircraft at its Rolling Meadows, Ill. repair station, according to a company statement.

Carl Smith, Northrop’s land and self protection systems division infrared countermeasures vice president, said the certification will allow the company to extend its client base.

The company opened the repair station in 2009 to serve the company’s infrared countermeasures system.

“We understand the importance of keeping critical systems in top condition and doing so affordably,” Smith added.

In addition to the newly awarded EASA part 145 repair station certification, the Federal Aviation Administration  has awarded the repair station with the U.S. version of the part 145 certificate and Diamond Award for Excellence for two consecutive years.
