Computer Sciences Corp. and Cleversafe have joined an industry consortium that works to promote use of archiving technology in working with unstructured data, the companies said Thursday.
The Active Archive Alliance was founded in early 2010 as a vendor-neutral organization by Dell, FileTek, Inc., QStar Technologies, SGI and Spectra Logic Corp.
“We look forward to collaborating with the Alliance members and our customers to deliver customized active archive solutions that meet today’s demanding data storage needs,” said Steven Baxter, a CSC program manager.
“We are pleased to be joining many of the biggest leaders and innovators in the storage industry to provide object-storage solutions as part of the Active Archive Alliance,” said Russ Kennedy, vice president of product strategy, marketing and customer solutions for Cleversafe.
Alliance members primarily consist of file system, active archive applications, cloud storage, high-density tape and disk storage providers.
The alliance’s mission is to “align the market education and proper technologies to meet the rapidly evolving requirements for long-term storage and access of unstructured data,” said Molly Rector, chairman of the Active Archive Alliance.
Rector also serves as executive vice president of product management and worldwide marketing at Spectra Logic.
