Management consulting and technology services provider StrataFusion has appointed Mark Egan, formerly VMware‘s chief information officer, to lead the information technology transformation and information security consulting practices.
StrataFusion said he will report to CEO Ken Crafford and also serve as a partner.
“The technology industry is going through a major transformation today and we are pleased to have Mark lead our new consulting practice,” Crafford said.
Crafford added the practice will work with clients in cloud computing, mobile, social and big data technology.
According to StrataFusion, Egan helped lead VMware transition from a server virtualization vendor to a cloud computing provider.
He is credited with helping increase revenue from $2 billion to $5 billion.
Before joining VMware, he served as CIO at Symantec for six years and the company says he helped transition the company from being a consumer software publisher to a enterprise security firm.
Revenue during those six years increased from $600 million $5 billion, the company said.
