Biometrics software and technology supplier Aware provides healthcare clients software for professionals to monitor and record patient radiation exposure under California state law.
AccuRad REM Server runs on a healthcare provider’s network and transmits dose data from radiological equipment to radiology reporting systems, PACS and external data registries, the company says.
CT scanners and fluoroscopy equipment send the data onto the systems, Aware says.
Joe Kushi, Aware director of sales, said the software integrates dose data into third-party reporting systems.
Aware intends for the software to automatically put dose data into radiology reports and generate customized dose estimation information according to the IHE REM Integration Profile.
Healthcare providers upload that data into the American College of Radiology’s Dose Index Registry for comparing their information to external results.
Using optical character recognition, the software reads image-based textual data and structures data according to a IHE REM Integration Profile.
The software is compatible with both new equipment and older legacy equipment, Aware says.
Clinicians also use the software to produce summary reports of estimated exposures organized by physician, modality, time-and-date, institution or other user-defined queries, the company says.
