GE Launches Big Data Software For Automation Market Pursuit; Don Busiek Comments

GElogoGeneral Electric has launched a new big data management software tool for manufacturing, design and automation enterprises as part of the company’s push into automation and software markets.

GE originally developed Proficy Vision in-house to manage the company’s network of factories, International Business Times reported Thursday.

The company has used the tool since 2009 and has tweaked it with the intent to handle unstructured big data.

Don Busiek, manufacturing software general manager for GE intelligent platforms, said the company intends for GE software engineers to manage content while others are accessing the network.

News feeds, market quotes, social media in financial applications, media and other activities are potential applications of Proficy Vision, according to the report.
