Brown joined Motorola in January 2003. In 2007, he became a member of its board, president and chief operating officer. As CEO, Brown led the spin-off of the consumer-focused Motorola Mobility in 2011.
Before joining Motorola, he was chairman and CEO of Micromuse Inc. from 1999 to 2003.
Brown serves as deputy chair of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and vice chair of the US-China Business Council.
He is also a member of The Business Council, Technology CEO Council, the Northwestern Memorial Hospital Board, the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago and World Business Chicago.
He was recently selected by the Business Roundtable to lead a select CEO committee on comprehensive immigration reform.
Brown graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters. He is also on the university’s board of governors.
