ARINC Software to Help Secure Spent Nuclear Fuel Silo; Frank Koren Comments

ARINClogoARINC has won a contract to provide security and information management software for Salt Lake City-base EnergySolutions Inc.’s ongoing decommissioning project in Illinois.

The Advanced Information Management System will be integrated into the security system of the spent nuclear fuel silo EnergySolutions has constructed for the Zion Nuclear Power Station, ARINC said in a release.

The CFR-compliant software offers intruder detection, video surveillance, access control and integrated badging capability, and ARINC’s security solutions project team will also perform systems integration-related functions.

As part of the Zion plant’s 10-year dismantling process, the nuclear fuel will be placed in casks and moved to the complex for interim storage.

“We are excited to work with EnergySolutions on this important project,” said Frank Koren, ARINC product director of security systems.

“Our AIM SCS technology is widely used for security command and control applications at over 42 nuclear plants throughout the U.S. and Canada.”
