ATK Aerospace Selects Big Data Solution for R&D, Simulation; Ramesh Krishnan Comments

ATK logo_TNNIATK Aerospace Group has adopted Panasas Inc.’s ActiveStor parallel storage solution in an effort to accelerate its design, research and simulation processes at its high-performance computing center.

California-based Panasas said said it designed ActiveStor with technical computing applications and big data workload solutions to address the performance and scalability requirements by operations like ATK’s engineering process.

The company said the cluster of tools has been previously applied to support:

  • mechanical design
  • combustion modeling
  • computational fluid dynamics
  • flight simulation processes

“It is crucial that ATK engineers use state-of-the art systems in order to support our research and product design applications at the highest levels of performance and uptime,” said Ramesh Krishnan, senior staff engineer for engineering process and tools at ATK Aerospace.

ATK is also leveraging the solution for its other business units across the U.S.
