Harris_CapRock_LogoHarris CapRock Communications and O3b Networks are partnering to provide broadband services for Royal Caribbean cruise ships, intending to use fiber-quality bandwidth.

The collaboration is aimed to leverage Harris CapRock’s experience in maritime systems integration and O3b’s satellite system to deliver bandwidth for two vessels, the companies said Tuesday.

Harris CapRock will install  antenna systems and provide the associated services for a platformed aimed to help Royal Caribbean offer its customers broadband applications.

“O3b looks forward to working with Harris CapRock to provide Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas’ guests and crew the same high-speed broadband connectivity they are familiar with on land,” said O3b Networks CEO Steve Collar.

Rick Simonian, Harris CapRock president of maritime solutions, said the company will act as systems integrator and managed service provider for the ships.

The company won a five-year contract in May 2012 to update Royal Caribbean’s shipboard communications.
