BAE Systems‘ intelligence and security business will receive an award for exceeding a goal to award 3 percent of contracting opportunities to veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses.
The company will accept the award at the National Veteran Small Business Coalition’s Veteran Entrepreneur Training Symposium on June 11 in Reno, Nevada, BAE said Monday.
During fiscal year 2012, BAE awarded 15.5 percent of intelligence and security contracts to veteran-owned small businesses and 4.2 percent to service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses.
“We take pride in supporting critical national security missions that protect our country and those who serve,” said DeEtte Gray, president of the sector.
“Our nation’s veterans have sacrificed so much to ensure our freedom and we are honored to partner with them,” she said.
