DynCorp International representatives have attended the unveiling of a memorial wall to commemorate the lives of 86 Americans who were involved in criminal justice programs abroad.
The monument is located in State Department headquarters in Foggy Bottom and honors civilian police, corrections advisers, pilots and support staff, according to a DynCorp statement.
“It takes an extraordinary person to volunteer to step into harm’s way to support one’s country and its allies,” said Steven Gaffney, DynCorp’s chairman and CEO.
According to the release, 52 of the 86 names included in the memorial belong to former DynCorp employees.
The department presented families of killed personnel with a flag honoring their loved ones.
“This wall is an important symbol of the significant, lasting contributions of the fallen, and we are grateful to the Department of State for helping to ensure that their stories live on,” Gaffney added.
