He will succeed John McMullen, current SVP and treasurer, who will retire from the company after 32 years, HP said Friday.
Murrin will oversee HP’s cash, debt, foreign exchange, capital structure, risk management and benefits plans and continue to evaluate corporate development and performance.
The 23-year veteran will also make decisions on investment options and develop strategies.
“He has spent the last 23 years in a variety of roles, including several senior leadership positions, giving him a diverse perspective that is especially valuable as we make progress towards the company’s turnaround,” said Cathie Lesjak, HP executive VP and chief financial officer.
Murrin will report to Lesjak in his role as treasurer.
He led HP Enterprise Services’ select accounts group and served as a corporate controller before rejoining the finance department in January.
