A Northrop Grumman subsidiary has won an International Organization for Standardization certificate from Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance for managing environmental systems in its efforts impact on the environment.
LRQA audited Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems and granted the ISO 14001:2004 for the company’s work to align business operations with environmental aspects at its facility near Peterborough, U.K., Northrop said Tuesday.
Park Air Systems intends to help the aviation industry grow its environmental credentials by designing, manufacturing and integrating products, systems, software and services for air traffic communication.
The subsidiary implements airport collaborative decision making programs through its airport realtime collaboration system, aiming to reduce taxi time on the runway while engines are running, emitting carbon dioxide.
Park Air Systems installed a system at its Peterborough facility that supplies rainwater to its operations.
Northrop also intends to recycle all of its landfill waste by the end of 2013, the company says.
