Siemens Signs 15-Year Wind Power Plant Service Extensions; Tim Holt Comments

SIEMENS logo_ExecutiveBizSiemens has signed 15-year contract extensions to continue helping renewable energy project developer RES Americas operate two wind power facilities that produce electricity for 68,000 households.

RES’ Whirlwind Energy Center and Hackberry Wind Farm in Texas have a combined output of 226 megawatts and Siemens will service, maintain and provide warranty to the plants, Siemens said Monday.

Both sites use Siemens’ remote monitoring and diagnostic platforms, intended to help wind facility operators comply with grid requirements.

“We look forward to continuing our relationship with RES Americas as their service provider for these important renewable energy projects, which provide clean energy to residents across Texas.” said Tim Holt, CEO of the service renewables and energy service division within Siemens’ energy sector.

These extensions represent Siemens’ first wind service contract signed for 15 years in North America, the company said.
